Our Bangladesh program in partnership with HOPE Foundation for Women and Children was established in 2018 and has expanded to two care locations: the first at HOPE Hospital in Cox's Bazar, and the second at the field hospital inside the Rohingya refugee camp.

We support HOPE by providing expertise in a variety of specialties from volunteer physicians. With the success of our program, HOPE has hired a new physician to work specifically with international specialists using the telehealth device. This new hire is Dr. Trisha, a dedicated young Bangladeshi physician who is caring for the community of Cox's Bazar.

At HOPE, Dr. Trisha is addressing a variety of health issues with support from medical experts in internal medicine, pediatrics, infectious disease, pulmonology, neurology, surgery, psychiatry, dermatology, and emergency medicine. Roughly 50% of our philanthropic physicians that are supporting HOPE are Bangladeshi Americans who are giving back to their home country.

We had the chance to chat with Dr. Trisha and ask her about her experience with the World Telehealth Initiative program at HOPE. She was joined by Dr. Islam, Chief Medical Officer at HOPE.

Dr. Islam and Dr. Trisha have been conducting outreach in their community to spread the word about their ability to consult with international specialists via telehealth. Dr. Trisha explains that the people "are very much curious and they are very much excited to come to our hospital, and they want to consult with the experts about many kinds of diseases.”

Dr. Trisha shares that the international specialists “are very helpful and very concerned about our patients… and they encourage us a lot.” When asked what the best part of her job is, she says “my favorite part is obviously to conduct the sessions with our international experts, I am really enjoying this very much”.

Through the World Telehealth Initiative program at HOPE, we have been able to greatly increase the number of medical specialties available to the communities of Cox's Bazar and the Rohingya. With Dr. Trisha as the new telehealth coordinator, we have expanded the number of patients that can receive care from international specialists. We are very excited about the growth of our program at HOPE and that we can support the amazing work that Dr. Trisha is doing to provide quality healthcare to her community.
