Hieu Nguyen

International Advisory Council

From a young age, Hoang Minh Hieu Nguyen was acutely aware of the profound challenges surrounding healthcare access in his hometown in the central highlands of Vietnam. This early exposure inspired Nguyen to envision a future where healthcare is more accessible, holistic, culturally aware, and scientifically rigorous. Nguyen is a medical student at Stanford University School of Medicine. A Gates-Cambridge Scholar, he earned an MPhil in Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge, where he investigated the mechanisms underlying cancer aggressiveness. Hieu graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Middlebury College with a degree in Neuroscience, where he received a Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship to help launch one of Kenya’s first telehealth programs through the World Telehealth Initiative and founded the Peace Pen program to promote intercultural understanding among students worldwide.
