Currently Jerry is serving on several boards or advisor roles, these include technical companies seeking to scale from small and mid-sized to large companies, datacenter companies and nonprofits.
Jerry was Chief Operating Officer of Snap Inc. from Sept 2022 until end of 2023 where he was responsible for growth, revenue product, sales, content and partnerships, and engineering organizations across our three operating regions, the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
Jerry previously served as SVP of Engineering at Snap and will continue to oversee the product engineering, release, and monetization of Snapchat, as well as customer operations, platform integrity, and more. In his six years with the company, Jerry has led key business transformations on multiple fronts, including developing Snap’s advertising platform, rebuilding Snapchat for Android, evolving Snap’s platform integrity operations team, and developing and executing Snap’s multi-cloud infrastructure strategy.
Prior to Snap, Jerry spent nine years at Amazon, most recently leading the AWS Infrastructure team for six years. At AWS, he implemented operational strategies at scale, such as transitioning the business to build its own in-house products and services, such as AmazonOS, AWS data centers, AWS networking boxes and operating system, AWS compute servers and over a gigawatt of renewable power. Jerry also led Amazon’s Corporate Applications team for three years, where he oversaw management of developer tools and internal IT systems and initiated the transition of all Amazon IT systems to AWS.
Prior to Amazon, Jerry spent 17 years at Sun Microsystems, where he served as Vice President and led key operations and IT infrastructure projects, including the consolidation of the Java Enterprise System product.
Early in his career, he worked as an engineering intern at NASA's AMES Research Center designing robotic automation of life science experiments for the International Space Station. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Systems Engineering at the University of Arizona, Tucson.
