Longisa County Referral hospital in Bomet County has received a consignment of telemedicine equipment from the United States of America (World Telehealth Initiative) to boost the theatre unit at the facility.

Speaking during the handing over of the machines to the hospital management Monday, the area governor Prof Hillary Barchok noted that the machines will increase the efficiency of the hospital and its performance in general as they will enable doctors to interact with their counterparts in different parts of the country virtually.

“Our telemedicine unit of Longisa county referral hospital has received a major boost following the acquisition of a Teledoc machine that enables our doctors to virtually interact with specialists and consultants in and outside the country,” said Barchok.

“Through these medical machines work done by our medical officers will be improved because they will be in a position to discuss medical issues affecting our people with their counterparts in different parts of the country and abroad,” he added

The modern machines will also help in surgeries, patient management, and training of medical personnel within the facility and other health centres around the county.
